Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards are held in high regard by schools, academies, colleges, universities and employers, and being challenging and rewarding to complete, they support the development of transferable skills in young people. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award are entirely voluntary, fun, and entirely non-competitive (Try telling our students that!)

This is your opportunity to develop:

  • self-belief, self-confidence and independence.
  • an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses.
  • a sense of responsibility.
  • new relationships.the ability to plan and use time effectively.
  • the ability to lead and work as part of a team.
  • skills including problem solving, presentation and communication.
  • the ability to learn from and give to others in the community.

…and to be able to talk about these things in personal statements  on C.V. and in job interviews.

You will be challenged to demonstrate Respect:

  • For your team mates – you will have to demonstrate commitment in participating in the meetings, sharing the workload, carrying and leading.
  • For the Community – give something back through volunteering, taking care of the environment that we journey through.
  • For your leaders – all the leaders that help and guide you in DofE are volunteering themselves. Empathise.
  • For yourself – Play your part; engage with all the sections and challenge yourself. You have no idea what you can achieve. Take responsibility for your actions, the triumphs and the mistakes.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is purely voluntary and most of our delivery is ‘free’, however there are costs involved for registration and resources etc…. but the places and the award itself are precious.
