There will be an assessment, and you’ll receive a certificate of training at the end of the course, along with FAW or EFAaW if required.

You’ll need to provide proof of a current valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate to take the +F stand-alone course.

We are a team of highly experienced trainers, from mainly ex forces background. Our tutors have experience, knowledge and skills in the areas of their delivery with many years of industry practice and teaching experience. We use this wealth of experience to provide forward-thinking sessions that use real life experience as part of the learning. We fully understand the importance of addressing barriers to learner engagement, in particular with the priority groups, and we work hard to alleviate these. Furthermore, we put the emphasis on differentiated learner led activity rather than provider-led.

  1. Assess the Scene:
    • Ensure the area is safe for you and the victim.
    • Gather information about the situation.
  2. Call for Help:
    • If the injury or illness is serious, call emergency services immediately (e.g., 911).
  3. Check Responsiveness:
    • Tap the person and shout to see if they respond.
    • If unresponsive, roll them onto their back and check for breathing.
  4. Perform CPR (if necessary):
    • If the person is not breathing, start CPR:
      • Push hard and fast in the center of the chest (30 compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths).
      • Continue until help arrives or the person starts breathing.
  5. Control Bleeding:
    • Apply direct pressure to stop bleeding.
    • Use clean cloths or bandages; if blood soaks through, add more cloths on top without removing the initial one.
  6. Treat for Shock:
    • Lay the person down and elevate their legs if there are no injuries to the legs or back.
    • Keep them warm and comfortable.
  7. Manage Specific Injuries or Illnesses:
    • For burns, cool the burn under running water and cover it with a clean, non-stick bandage.
    • For fractures, immobilize the area without trying to realign bones.
    • For choking, perform the Heimlich maneuver if necessary.
  8. Monitor the Person:
    • Stay with them until help arrives.
