Level 2

This qualification is aimed at those who would like a better understanding of health and safety for within the workplace. The emphasis is on making the employee safe for them, safe for others also to become more capable and confident when identifying possible hazards. “Health and Safety” takes as its starting point the fact that most accidents are attributable to a lack of knowledge or carelessness and that the key to improvement is increased awareness on everybody’s part. Once you complete this qualification you will understand the general principles of health and safety in the workplace, the nature of hazards and risks within the workplace and possible effects these hazards and risks could have on people in the workplace, and hazards and risks likely to affect the occupational health of individuals. This qualification is delivered over one day and results in a multiple choice test paper.

Level 3

This qualification provides progression from the Level 2 Award and is aimed at those who work in a supervisory or managerial role. Individuals participating in this qualification will gain and improve their knowledge of health and safety law, the hazards present in a workplace and how to tackle effective and necessary controls. Learners will also be provided with the skills needed for the efficient supervision of staff. It also focuses on how important health and safety is when in a business environment. The qualification itself wil take roughly 25 hours to complete and at the end of the 25 hours you will be given a multiple choice exam that you are required to complete.

Level 4

This qualification is designed for managers and business owners who are responsible for managing the health and safety within the workplace. The intensive five-day programme is created to provide candidates with an in-depth knowledge of the UK & EU laws and regulations regarding occupational health & safety, as well as risk assessment procedures. It covers all areas of health & safety management, from planning the area to daily controls and reporting procedures, as well as:
• employee training & communication
• work equipment & the work environment
• hazardous agents
• health & safety culture

Level 5

The Level 5 Diploma NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety is suitable for those Supervisors, Managers and Consultants and other specialists with specific responsibilities for the health, safety and welfare of other people within their organisation. As a result the candidate will have a significant degree of authority and will be in a position to influence policies and procedures within their organisation, take a leadership role and promote good health and safety practice and to carry out changes relating to health and safety. Candidate will report to, or be part of, the senior management team and they will be aware of cost implications and budgetary controls or may be budget holders. To achieve the full qualification the candidate must show their knowledge and understanding by completing the ten mandatory units. This qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills needed for employment and/or career progression in the health and safety sector.
