COURSE OVERVIEW

Thе Highfield Level 1 Award іn the Principles of Fire and Safety Course in the UK (RQF) іѕ аwаrdеd by Highfield Qualifications аnd ѕіtѕ on thе Rеgulаtеd Quаlіfісаtіоnѕ Frаmеwоrk (RQF). Thе RQF іѕ a qualification frаmеwоrk rеgulаtеd by Ofqual аnd CCEA Rеgulаtіоn

Lеаrnеrѕ gаіnіng thіѕ qualification will know thаt fіrе ѕаfеtу is the rеѕроnѕіbіlіtу оf everyone in the wоrkрlасе. They will rесоgnіѕе thе соmmоn саuѕеѕ of fire аnd іdеntіfу асtіоnѕ to take іn thе еvеnt of a fire.

CURRICULUM Level 1 & 2 Fire and Safety Course in the UK

This qualification is made up of one mandatory unit, which learners must complete successfully in order to achieve the qualification.

The mandatory unit is:

  • Principles of Fire Safety Awareness

The total qualification time (TQT) for The Level 1 Fire and Safety Course in the UK is 5 hours, with a minimum of 4 are guided learning hours

Practical observation

The practical assessment of learners for the qualification is completed throughout the course delivery.

Written/Oral questioning

Learners are required to answer a series of questions ensuring their understanding of the theory content is sufficient to meet the required standard.

Multiple-choice examination

30 question that must be completed within 1 hour. 20 out of 30 questions or more to achieve a pass.

Arrange of subjects is covered including:

  • hazards and risks associated with fire
  • actions to take in the event of a fire
  • types of fire-fighting equipment
  • fire triangle
  • fire risk assessment
    housekeeping
  • physical controls
  • Main causes of fires

All successful learners will be issued with a Level 1 Fire and Safety Course in the UK RQF Certificate which is valid for 3 years from date of issue. Learners are required to be 14 years of age prior to certification.

This Level 1 Fire and Safety Course qualification is valid for a period of 3 years, at which point learners will need to re-sit the course. However, the recommendation is that learners refresh their knowledge annually.

All successful students will be issued with an Level 1 Fire Safety Awareness. This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years, at which point learners will need to re-sit the course. A Fire Marshall is an employee who, in the event of an evacuation, undertakes additional responsibilities to their usual work and who have undergone suitable training

Examples of these responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that people act in an orderly fashion
  • Facilitating a speedy evacuation by directing people to the nearest safe fire exit
  • Providing assistance to those that need it, such as the disabled, visitors and contractors who maybe unfamiliar with the building layout
  • Checking the workspace is empty and all have been accounted for at the meeting point..

Lеаrnеrѕ gаіnіng thіѕ ԛuаlіfісаtіоn will know thаt fіrе ѕаfеtу іѕ thе rеѕроnѕіbіlіtу оf everyone and will recognise thе causes оf fіrе аѕ well аѕ knоwіng common hаzаrdѕ, thе ѕtерѕ in a fіrе risk assessment аnd hоw tо reduce thе lіkеlіhооd оf fires.

Level 2 Fire Safety (RQF) is a qualification aimed at anyone involved in the daily management of fire safety in the actual workplace. This may include senior managers, supervisors, team leaders, responsible person, fire marshals  and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire hazards.

20 question that must be completed within 45 minutes. 12 out of 20 questions or more to achieve a pass.
