Key Skills to Functional Skills
Functional Skills are a key element of the 14-19 reforms and from the 1st October 2012 Functional Skills qualifications will replace Key Skills, as a mandatory component of “all” Apprenticeship frameworks. This requirement is stated in the Specification for Apprenticeship Standards in England (SASE)
From October 2012 “all” Apprentices starting will be taking Functional Skills or GCSE qualifications. This means that the 30th September 2012 is the last day for registering for Key Skills, this includes ICT where applicable. The final date for completion and certification of Key Skills is the 30th September 2013, however, training providers and private tutors must check the final date for assessments with their Awarding Organisation as this date may be earlier depending on the specific qualification.
In order for training providers or private tutors to be prepared for the change over to Functional Skills, SMARTT are offering a discount until the change over to Functional Skills has been made, and the discount is on “all” levels of Functional Skills – see our step by step packages and guides we have on offer
